Concerts and Workshops
Sunday 26 April 2015, 10am to 5.30pm, The Voice Workshop, New York
Participants will learn basic overtone singing skills and then integrate what they have just learned with others to do various kinds of vocal improvisation. Throughout the day you will learn a variety of techniques and traditions, which will expand your understanding and awareness of the art of spontaneous music creation. You will use what you have learned by engaging in group improvisations, sound sculpting and other creative exercises to free the musical mind and voice. There will also be an instructional period devoted to understanding Indian Classical singing beginning with Sargam (the do-re-mi of Indian music), raga development; and time cycles which will be combined with overtone singing by day's end.
