About Rollin
Following in the footsteps of some of the early overtone singing pioneers in the West such as Michael Vetter, David Hykes, Tran Quang Hai (From Vietnamese origin), I was one of the first to create a comprehensive theoretical and technical framework of overtone singing which broadened the scope and facility of a more western style of overtone singing. I worked most of it out sitting alone in my small flat in Amsterdam during the early 80s. After realising that few people possessed the same clarity and control of the overtones and fundamentals, I decided to write the Overtone Singing Study Guide to help my students progress.
To put the theory of Overtone singing and changing fundamentals into some already established creative contexts, I began learning Gregorian Chant and Northern Indian Classical singing. This, provided the framework for some early fusions found on CDs Whistling Pastimes and Harmonic Divergence.
Although I have been dormant for some years in order to play a more active role in raising 3 children, I am now back in action and ready to teach, perform and explore more collaborations on artisticly and scientificly creative levels.
Please feel free to contact me regarding any of the ideas outlined in this blog.

Greetings,
Also being the father of 3 children, I can totally relate to the “obligatory time-out” impact it has on music-making!
Wishing you well in your re-emergence!
All best,
David Hykes
